Al & Bea's is located in Boyle Heights and has been at the same location for decades since it first opened, in the 1960's I believe. They are famously known for their simple but tasty burritos. It was actually featured in the 1972 George C. Scott film, The New Centurions. Stacy Keach & Scott are sitting on a bench at Al & Bea's one evening with a few other officers (one is a young Erick Estrada) and at one point, Keach remarks, "Good burritos." Scott reply's, "Best in town." The movie was filmed estensivly right next door at the old Hollenbeck PD..the Hollenbeck gym is there now - Arnold Schwarznegger gives away toys there every Chistmas - there are some quick shots of Al & Bea's as the squad cars roll out of the PD parking lot. They actually filmed all up and down 1st street. Just next to Al & Bea's on the other side is an active church in a building that used to be the Meralta Movie theater, built in 1914.
