The Sepulveda Unitarian Universalist Society's sanctuary (referred to as The Onion because of its unique shape) was built in 1963 with the intention of creating a space with no corners and no distinguishable location of focus, thus promoting equality to all who enter its space. Visible from the 405 freeway, this structure has been host to a number of events over the years, including peace rallies, social justice events, and even attracted the likes of the Grateful Dead and the Electric Kool-Aid Acid Tests.

Its internal structure is a 62' diameter hemisphere featuring arching buttresses, and it is still used for meetings, gatherings, performances and, of course, church worship.
