The home, built in 1927 by the founder of the Bekins moving company, sits atop 3-1/2 acres of gardens and is said to be Eagle Rock's largest home. It is currently on the market and up for sale. It's the first time it's been on the market since 1965. The nine bedroom, ten bathroom estate sits on 2.8 acres and has hosted a US presidential address, according to its listing. It also has three guesthouses, a greenhouse, a field, a pool, a croquet court, a 40-person dining room, a billiards room, a "lodge,"a bar and lounge, and an outdoor stage. I believe this place deserves a historic landmark distinction and should be restored and open to the community as a public park grounds, museum, or rented out by the city for private businesses such as a local Bed & Breakfast or a portion can be used as a rental hall for private events all the while maintaining its history and charm.
